Started watching this show Aoi Honoo again today. It’s still brilliant.^^ 

Kind of an important thing people seem to forget.

Proof:

My favorite part about ONE is that despite his lack of ability to draw characters and backgrounds (a lack of ability which is rapidly going away. Look at early OPM vs. current Mob Psycho) he’s really good at perspective and the rules of like, motion.

So much so that before Mob Psycho (and possibly the Manga of OPM) people were under the impression he was intentionally drawing at that level to satirize the low-budget and sketchy art of popular shonen.

I maintain that “she’s a hero, you see. she’s not like us” is one of the most telling lines about Giles’ characterization in the entire series. 

#also this is a tiny little thing  #and it holds barely any significence  #but to me it’s huge:  #Giles puts his glasses on just before he suffocates Ben  #He always takes his glasses off for the hard things the disgusting things the bad things  #he always takes his glasses off so he doesn’t have to see or face what is going on around him in full focus  # he can ignore the horribleness of certain things if it’s fuzzy  #but not this one  #not this time  #and I think that says a lot about Giles too (via ladyknightradiant)

This is how you do a good character doing a necessary but morally wrong thing correcly..

You don’t pretend it’s right to do it.

Giles has done a lot of bad shit in his life, caused death and pain and suffering through ignorance, rebellion, and so on. He makes the choice over and over, for Buffy’s sake, to make himself darker and darker because it saves a young woman who he loves and sees as a daughter and whom he is responsible for. Like any father that loves his child, he will take every ounce of suffering unto himself just to spare her a single moment of doubt. He doesn’t regret his actions, only the necessity of them.
